1970s "Finger" Plaque Interesting plaque from the early to mid 70's based on the psychedelic helmet design in the left corner, though it could be early 1980s as the media guides still used that design through at least 1986. It was made by The Regal Athletic Supply of Omaha. Stands 8" tall, 4" wide, embossed metal on a wood base.

1970s Football Helmet Coat Rack Nice kids' coat hanger featuring the Cornhusker helmet. I am guessing that it is from the late 1970s judging from the white face mask and Herbie, but may be from the 1980s. Nebraska wore gray face masks until switching to red face masks for the first time during the 1982 Orange Bowl against Clemson. It measures 12" wide by 18" high, made of wood.

1975 Fiesta Bowl - John Lee 1975 plaque from the 1975 Fiesta Bowl. Not certain of the origins of the plaque, whether each player received one or if John Lee was the outstanding defensive player for Nebraska. 1976 Big Eight Conference Helmets Plaque Best guess is that this is from the 1975 or 1976 season. According to the Helmet Project, the ISU helmet was worn in the 1975-78 seasons. The KU helmet was worn 1970-76. The CU helmet was worn through the end of 1978. The OSU helmet was worn 1973-9. The KSU was worn from 1975-8. The Missouri helmet was worn 1971-77. All had only minor stripe changes in this period. OU and NU are correct for a long range of years.

1979 Big Eight Conference Helmets Plaque Best guess is that this is from the 1979 season, or in preparation for the 1979 season. According to the Helmet Project, the ISU helmet used was only worn in the 1979 season. The KU helmet started its new version in 1979 as shown. The CU helmet was worn through the end of 1978, then changed for 1979. The OSU version shown was last used in 1979. The KSU is good for 1978, but they went to purple masks in 1979 (small detail). The Missouri helmet debuted in this form in 1980. OU and NU are correct for a long range of years. (photo and details courtesy Chad Maun - thanks!) |
